Human Bonds between Denmark and Ukraine
In September 2026, the Danish Cultural Institute was part of the initiative “Tæt Knyttet – МІЦНІ ЗВ’ЯЗКИ”, which highlighted the many organisations, companies, and individuals who, through collaboration, have built strong connections between Denmark and Ukraine.
As part of the project, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UN Live established an online portal connecting Copenhagen and Mykolaiv. Through UN Live’s digital portals, people across borders met face-to-face to share experiences and perspectives on life during the war, community, resilience, and hope for the future.
The conversations addressed a range of pressing topics, including demining, skills development, reconstruction, and the role of culture and traditions as unifying forces in challenging times.
The Danish Cultural Institute and the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House contributed to the programme with two dedicated sessions. One focused on the role of music and singing in times of crisis, while the other explored the importance of strong youth communities and safe spaces where young people can meet, grow, and build meaningful relationships.
