Bogusława Sochańska receives Award and Medal from the Cultural Fund of the H. C. Andersen Society

 

 

We are pleased to announce that on april 11th the director of the Danish Cultural Institue in Poland, Bogusława Sochańska will receive the Award and Medal of the H. C. Andersen Society’s Cultural Fund. The society has chosen to award Bogusława for her great achievement of translating all of H. C. Andersen’s fairy tales and an extensive part of his diaries into Polish.

 

Bogusława Sochańska has won awards for her translations several times before. It is her translations of the works of H. C. Andersen that has received most attention. In november of 2017 she received the Stanisław Sawicki Prize, in 2014 The Danish Arts Foundation gave her their Danish Translation Prize, and in 2007 she took home the H. C. Andersen Award.

 

The Award and Medal of the H. C. Andersen Society’s Cultural Fund will be presented by the vice chairman of the society, Kirsten Dreyer. Actor Lene Vasegaard will read from Andersen’s “Billedbog Uden Billeder” (Picture Book without Pictures), recently translated into Polish by Bogusława Sochańska. After the award ceremony the Polish Ambassador in Denmark, Henryka Mosicka-Dendys, will host the celebration as light refreshments are being served.

 

The award ceremony takes place at 19.30, april 11th, Kompagnistræde 39, 1208 Kbh. K.
