People’s Summit 2026

Arts and culture featured prominently at this year’s People’s Summit, where a wide range of debates and events highlighted the importance of culture in society and its growing place on the political agenda.

Camilla Mordhorst, Director of the Danish Cultural Institute, took part in several discussions in Allinge. One of the key conversations focused on the value of culture in times of crisis. Organized by Koda and moderated by Sigge Winther Nielsen, the panel brought together Juliana Hodkinson, Malte Boehm Larsen, Mogens Jensen, and Mattias Kolstrup to discuss the role and relevance of culture in a rapidly changing society.

Another central theme was spiritual resilience and artistic freedom. In a debate organized by ArtPolitico and Kunst På Arbejde, Benjamin Koppel, Nina Palesa Bonde, Shekufe Tadayoni Heiberg, and Tanya Lindkvist explored the opportunities and challenges facing the cultural sector at a time when culture is increasingly sought after in political discussions, while artistic freedom is experiencing growing pressure in many contexts. The session was moderated by Moussa Mchangama.

At the Global Goals Square, the Danish Cultural Institute contributed to a talk and workshop that brought together young voices, cultural perspectives, and global ambitions. With participants from Denmark and several African countries, the session examined how partnerships built on shared ambitions can contribute to sustainable development, innovation, and peace.

The event was organized by 2030beyond and Danida Fellowship Centre and included participants from Youth Fellowship East Africa Community, Youth Network Ghana, Youth Network Kenya, Youth Network Tanzania, and Youth Sounding Board Uganda. Additional contributors included Roald Hinberg Jensen, Zanubia Mohamed, Andreas Hansen, Adam Moe Fejerskov, Tim Whyte, Linea Sveistrup, Mikael Freitag Pedersen, and Rapolitics, while Rina Lauritzen Trautner served as host.

People’s Summit once again provided a platform for discussions on the societal value of culture, the importance of artistic freedom and resilience, and the role of international partnerships and youth engagement in addressing global challenges.
