Culture in Play at COP16

With the game-based climate learning initiative PoN as a key driver, our Brazilian office played a constructive role at the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP16) in Cali, Colombia. The participation provided a valuable opportunity to establish major partnerships in this important neighbouring country. A cooperation agreement with the Colombian Ministry of Environment was signed by COP President and Minister of Environment, Susana Mohamad.

The PoN game was included as educational material in the Colombian biodiversity quiz run by the World Wildlife Fund, with over 100,000 schoolchildren participating. In addition, the office held a well-attended PoN presentation followed by a panel discussion and a collective thematic event, “Environmental Education as a Motor for Social Change,” together with six other creative environmental education initiatives, moderated by UNICEF.

The event led to the formation of the Latin American Alliance for Environmental Education.
