Egberto Gismonti, Lars Møller and The Orchestra – Vinterjazz 2019

Concert with Egberto Gismonti, Lars Møller and The Orchestra brings Danish-Brasilian musical cooperation to Vinterjazz 2019

On February 18th and 19th, audiences can experience well-known artists Egberto Gismonti, Lars Møller and The Orchestra, in Aarhus and Copenhagen respectively. Together, they will perform a rare experience when they play their “Mysteries of Amazonas”. Gismonti and Møller has developed the project over the last couple of years, with meetings in both Brazil and Europe. The music bridges the european tradition of musical composition and elements from the varied musical forms of expression found in Brazil, with national composer Villa Lobos as one of the specific sources of inspiration. The concerts are part of Vinterjazz 2019

Egberto Gismonti

Gismonti is a pianist, guitarist and composer of the highest order, and a common guest on the Danish music scene of the 80’s and 90’s. He is classically trained, and has studied in Paris under the tutelage of legendary Nadia Boulanger. Later Gismonti began including Brazilian folk music and jazz in his music.

Lars Møller

Composer, conductor and saxophone player Lars Møller has an international musical outlook and is the founder of Global Jazz Explorer Institute. His music is performed across the globe and he is recognized by his respectful yet innovative work with different musical traditions.

The Orchestra

Renewing the bigband tradition, The Orchestra has existed since 1992, comprised by members from the Oresund region. The current band leader is saxophone player Kasper Wagner (Lars Møller held the position from 1997-2011). The Orchestra had toured in many parts of the world, but they bring the tradition of large jazz ensembles to new generations too, by doing workshops and other communicative activities.
