Brainstorms

Our brain is a tangled network of neurons and blood vessels, yet each of our individual thought patterns forms a unique structure that shapes our consciousness, personality, and way of thinking. This makes the brain the most complex organ in the human body – and one of the most important. That’s why it was the focal point of the “Brainstorms” exhibition at our cultural centre in Beijing.

The exhibition featured 150 embroidered brains, each accompanied by a personal mind map, created by local Chinese participants. Brainstorms ran for over six weeks from October 2024, alongside a series of workshops on neurology and mental health, held in collaboration with Lundbeck China. Following the exhibition, Lundbeck requested to receive the exhibition materials – the embroidered, self-portrait-like brains – for internal use.
