Baltic Pearls

The project BSR Cultural Pearls aims to enhance the overall quality of life for individuals living in smaller towns around the Baltic Sea. The approach is to support civil society’s engagement in urban development by connecting local communities with national and international networks.

These new connections have led to the development of action plans for the participating towns, which are now striving to become so-called “Cultural Pearls.” Outstanding initiatives are recognised with the annual Cultural Pearls Award, given to municipalities that have strengthened their resilience, overall quality of life, and urban appeal.

In 2024, one of the Danish Cultural Institute’s key contributions was the  – a gathering of cultural actors, experts, activists, municipal and NGO representatives, as well as all project partners and participating towns.
