Join us for our 75 Anniversary Conference in August

The Danish Cultural Institute marks its 75 years anniversary by organizing an international conference on the theme:

‘Culture – The Third Leg in Foreign Policy’, where Martin Krasnik will act as moderator.

All the major national and global challenges (wars and conflicts, refugees, migration, radicalization, human rights, sustainability, cultural heritage, etc.) is not just about security and economics, but also very much about the culture at large.

We therefore invite you to a series of conversations about the role culture can / should play for Denmark’s handling of our relationship with other people, countries and cultures.

The Dutch historian Geert Mak, author of one of the masterpieces of modern contemporary European history, “Europe”, will set the stage with Martin Krasnik.

The conversation will be followed up by contributions from leading Danish and foreign politicians as well as cultural and business personalities. Concrete examples of the cultural importance of the work will be presented and the conference will culminate in a series of recommendations by which we can begin to renew the way we work with culture and foreign policy today.

A performance by Middle East Peace Orchestra will round of the conference (see top photo by Mette Kramer Kristensen)

Location: Queen’s Hall, The Royal Library

Time: Tuesday, August 30 pm. 13:30 to 17:30, followed by a reception

Organizer: Danish Cultural Institute in collaboration with the Wisti Foundation and the Foreign Policy Society.

We look forward to seeing you.
