Sebastian Kloborg Open Studio in Beijing
On April 16, the visitors in Danish Cultural Center in Beijing had the chance to experience the rehearsal of a new ballet performance created by the Danish choreographer, Sebastian Kloborg for the Beijing Dance Academy.
For the past couple of months Sebastian Kloborg has been working on a new ballet performance for the Beijing Dance Academy. The show opens at the Academy on June 2nd. However, already on Easter Sunday the dancers gave the visitors of the Danish Culture Center a taste of what they have been working on.
Sebastian Kloborg (1986) started his studies at the Royal Danish Ballet School graduating in 2003 and joined the Royal Danish Ballet that same year. He danced in the full repertory of the company and took part in creations of world-renowned choreographers. Following his graduation in 2003, the Royal Danish Ballet immediately took him on where he made his debut in John Neumeier’s Romeo & Juliet at the age of 19. Following this, his career continued on its stellar path.
Appointed to the rank of soloist in 2009, he has danced principal roles in the renowned choreographies of the great innovators of the classical ballet and dance such as August Bournonville, John Cranko, George Balanchine and John Neumeier.
In 2012 he joined Gauthier Dance//Theaterhaus Stuttgart, Germany, under the direction of Eric Gauthier where he ventured into more neoclassical and modern works.
Besides his dancing career, Sebastian Kloborg also co-directs the group Dancers of The Royal Danish Ballet. He started choreographing in 2011 for among others The Royal Danish Ballet. His style of choreography incorporates mime, humor and seeks to bring back storytelling to the world of dance.
