Rune Peitersen’s The Voters and the Politicians screened in Belgium

Premier screening of The Voters and the Politicians by Rune Peitersen at pre-election event at ERforS in Bruxelles

On the 25th of May, the day before the European elections, the Danish artist Rune Peitersen will present his new film: The Voters and the Politicians in collaboration with the independent art initiative Enough Room for Space (ERforS). The screening will be part of the participatory event: No Wo.man is an Island, including a workshop and talks, and will address matters of the forthcoming European elections asking: is a (new) future possible for the EU?

The Voters and the Politicians is the second work in the series Control. It is inspired by Peitersen’s own experience of democracy and takes its starting point in his participation in a demonstration in Denmark as teenager. The film explores the relationship between the citizens (as voters) and the politicians in Western society, the democratic process and moreover the political power and misuse of the same. The film raises relevant issues in the present Western society and urges debate and reflection in a society where issues of democracy and politics are becoming increasingly urgent in Europe with the forthcoming European elections.

Extra screenings of The Voters and the Politicians will be presented the following three Saturdays: 1st, 8th and 15th of June. See the full program of the event.
