MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival – New Dimensions of Danish Design

The concept of Danish Design is explored in Szczecin, at the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival

What connects avant-garde synth-pop, experimental and minimalist music, as well as beatbox and design? The common denominator is the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival – an interdisciplinary project of the Szczecin Philharmonic, with Danish Cultural Institute as one of the project partners.

MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival

This is the first edition of MDF, taking place on September 19th-23rd (with DJ-workshops on the 10th and 18th leading up to the actual festival), in the award-winning Szczecin Philharmonic building. The MDF Festival is an event that cross divisions, combining various fields of art, letting the audience experience symphonic and chamber music concerts, exhibitions, workshops, discussion panels, happenings and sound visualizations.

Throughout the festival days, you will be able to see exhibitions and unique interactive installations. They will include the exhibition of “Danish design in the lens of Piotr Topperzer”, which presents photographs of Danish design objects such as jewelry, furniture and housing equipment.

The program will also include workshops for children and adults, as well as lectures and discussions on issues concerning contemporary design. For this part of MDF, Danish architect Trine Blicher Folmer will participate. She will lead the workshop for adults “Sense Szczecin – building dreams for your city”, aiming to help build a committed community of creators who actively and consciously undertake activities improving the quality of the urban space surrounding them.

Trine will also take part in a panel discussion on the subject of modern design “Durability, usability, beauty – and what next?”. Among the Polish participants in the panel, are Tomasz Sachanowicz from the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, who is also the founder of the website and architectural blog “Architektura w Szczecinie” (Architecture in Szczecin).
