DCI at St. Petersburg International Book Fair

Louisiana director Christian Lund and leader of DCI in Russia Marie Tetzlaff participates in the 13th St. Petersburg International Book Fair

 

 

On Friday May 18th Danish Cultural Institute in St. Petersburg contributes to the 13th St. Petersburg International Book Fair. Christian Lund, director at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, and Marie Tetzlaff, leader of DCI in St. Petersburg, will both speak at the great literary event.

 

At 11.00 Christian Lund takes the stage at the stand of the Information Agency of Russia TASS, to tell about his experience in building up the hugely successful literary festival Louisiana LiteratureIn 2019, the festival will be 10 years old, and all these years has been growing and gaining in popularity not only in Denmark, but internationally too, through the work of Christian Lund and the project coordinator Kristin Terp. How has this been made possible?

 

Christian Lund will speak on ways to effectively promote literature, using an artistic setting and various forms of events like festivals, salons, meetings and discussions. His presentation will provide an understanding of the reasons why famous and prestigious writers of the world is interested in visiting Louisiana Literature and why more and more Danes are eager to experience the festival.

 

The presentation is in Danish with translation into Russian.

 

Marie Tetzlaff will speak after Christian Lund, presenting the poetry of renowned Danish writer Inger Christensen. Christensen’s first two collections of poems, Lys (Light) (1962) and Græs (Grass) (1963), have been published in a Russian translation this year. The translation was carried out by Marina Tjurina Oberlander, who devoted several years of work to the project. The book Light. Grass was published in March, with beautiful illustrations by the gifted Moscow artist Konstantin Ferdinand Weber-Chubais. Light. Grass was published by West-Consulting publishing house.

At her presentation, Marie Tetzlaff, who wrote the foreword to the Russian edition of Inger Christensen, will talk about the book, the writer, whom she knew personally, and about the history of the translation of Christensen’s poems. She will recite the poems in the original language, while pupils of the school №2 in the city of Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad region, will read them in Russian.
