New Team in Brussels

The New Team

The upgraded Danish Cultural Institute in Brussels are heading for an exciting autumn and winter; new office location, new employees and new interesting projects. Here follows a short introduction of the Danish Cultural Institute in Brussels’ team.

Per Erik Veng

Per Erik Veng acceded as the Director for the Institute 1st September 2016. With a background in musicology Per Erik Veng has had a long career working within the areas of cultural exchange, international collaborations and promotion of Danish culture and arts abroad. Per Erik Veng held the position as artistic and administrative director of Danish National Symphony Orchestra and The Danish National Girls’ Choir for almost 20 years. Before he joined Danish Culture Institute, he was Minister Counsellor, Head of Communication, Culture & Public Diplomacy at the Royal Danish Embassy in Berlin for 6 years.

Per Erik Veng plays the piano and plans to introduce a weekly sing-along session in the office.

Rosalia Fenger

Rosalia has been working at the Institute since January 2015 and holds a BA from the University of Copenhagen and an MA in Comparative Literature from the Free University in Berlin. She is the depute of Per Erik Veng and is responsible for managing projects and communications. In these tasks, she is assisted by our interns and her colleague Anna.

Rosalia has a background as an editor of among other a research series published by the department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics at the University of Copenhagen.

Rosalia lives in Saint-Gilles and enjoys Brussels’ rich cultural life to the fullest. After several years in Berlin, she speaks German but is still learning French.

Anna Friis

Anna started working at the institute September 1st 2016. Her main areas of responsibility are office and project management. Anna has an educational background within the field of Middle Eastern studies from the University of Copenhagen and Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris. Anna is a true international with past jobs in Denmark, Brussels, Paris and Cuba. She has worked as a freelance translator and interpreter and as an employee at UNESCO, ARTE and Johnson & Johnson. Anna speaks seven languages and describes herself as a something of a language geek. In her spare time, she especially enjoys long walks with her dog Basse. An organic lifestyle, animal welfare and music are also passionate interests of hers.

Julie Satsie Bojesen

Julie joined the institute as an intern September 1st 2016. Julie’s key responsibilities are assisting Rosalia with project management and communications. Julie is completing her masters in Art History at the University of Copenhagen and will be graduating in spring 2017. To look at art as a product of a specific culture and time was a key interest when Julie chose to study Art History. With an interest in different cultures, Julie uses all opportunities to go traveling in her spare time. She calls herself a Francophile and is a real foodie. Julie enjoys long walks in the woods close to the family’s holiday cottage in Skåne, Sweden, and her enthusiasm for arts is never neglected, as she regularly visits art scenes and exhibitions in Copenhagen and abroad.

Fanny Menaka Dons

Fanny joined the institute as an intern September 1st 2016. Similar to Julie, Fanny’s areas of responsibilities are strategic communications, as well as providing support to the Institute’s projects. Fanny holds a BA in English and is currently completing her masters in Modern Culture at the University of Copenhagen. A passionate interest in British culture sparked Fanny’s interest in language and culture as fields of study. This was further deepened by a gap year in London at The Interior Design School. Fanny enjoys nature and the outdoors, especially when visiting her parents in the countryside of Jutland. In Copenhagen she makes extensive use of what the city offers in cultural events, in particular architecture and dance. Fanny is quite the bookworm and keeps herself up-to-date with politics and cultural matters.
